1000 year old oak tree / Schlosspark Sacrow

The oldest tree in Potsdam lies like an ancient elephant colossus in the park, originally planned by Lenné, surrounding Sacrow Schloss (more of a manor house than a palace). The Park Manor House and Heilandskirche lay in restricted territory, used and abused by the Nazis and then by the border guards who were stationed here. The actual border lay in the middle of the Havel and the Schlosspark could only be glimpsed from the Havel ferries.
